Ki-Shin-Tai Dojo and Sensei Thomas Podzelny announced their upcoming seminar with two great Okinawan Masters. Sensei Katsuji Tamayose (9th Dan) and Sensei Kazuya Takara (7th Dan) will lead the seminar which will take place in Erlangen, Germany from Thursday 2nd until Sunday 5th of October. The seminar will be open for all Uechi Ryu practitioners regardless of line, affiliation or rank.

Dear Karateka,

we are glad to welcome Katsuji Tamayose Sensei and Kazuya Takara Sensei from Okinawa - the homeland of karate - in Germany for the first time. A great opportunity for everybody who cannot affort a travel to Okinawa to study traditional karate directly under these two great masters. With this event we also celebrate our 15 years dojo anniversary. The seminar is open to everybody regardless of style, affiliation or rank.
The organization team is looking forward to an intensive, exciting and instructive seminar together with you.

THE MASTERS:

Tamayose-sensei

Katsuji Tamayose Sensei was born in 1954 and started karate as a youth at the age of 15. His teacher was the late grandmaster Kanei Uechi. Today he runs his own dojo at Ginowan/Okinawa. In june 2014 he received his 9th Dan and the title of Hanshi. With 45 years of experience Tamayose Sensei is still exploring the origins of Uechi Ryu when the founder Kanbun Uechi was living and studying in China, expecially 'Kou Nan Jizai', which means always to be ready for both soft and hard movement ('Kou Nan' - soft and hard, 'Jizai' - able to do always). For him the purpose of karate practice is physical well-being and inner peace. Tamayose Sensei was elected as the current president of our association in june 2014.

Kazuya-Takara Kazuya Takara Sensei was born in 1959 as a son of Shintoku Takara 10th Dan, the present grandmaster of our association. He started practicing karate in 1973 at age 14 under his father and also was a student of grandmaster Kanei Uechi from 1982. Up to now, he has kept respecting both Kanei Uechi Sensei and Shintoku Takara Sensei as his teachers. In 2005 he opened his own dojo in Futenma/Okinawa and was promoted to Kyoshi 7th Dan in 2009. Takara Sensei has been a very successful competitor.

- 1990 World Uchinanchu Championship: Kumite 2nd place
- 1990 1st Okinawa Martial Arts Festival: Kumite 2nd place
- 1999 1st Okinawa Traditional Karate and Kobudo World Championship: Individual Kata 2nd, Team Kata 1st place
He is also coaching junior contestants for tournaments as an official coach.

Kazuya Takara Sensei is always striving hard with his mission of passing down Karate-Do correctly, which both Kanei Uechi Sensei and Shintoku Takara Sensei have been thinking as one of the important parts of Okinawan culture. He also would like to contribute spreading karate more in the world. He told us to be glad to practice together with friends in Germany.
